It is unfortunate that most of us don't really sit down for a proper breakfast except on weekends or while on vacation. But then again, that's what makes it such a special occasion. To me, le petit déjeuner is meant to be a lazy affair; something that encourages you to lean back and enjoy, without the constraints of time.
Whether it is a decadent croissant sandwich, stuffed omelet, fresh baked goods, crepes and toasts, or fruits and yoghurt, the first meal of the day is often accompanied by fresh fruit juice, chocolat chaud, coffee or tea. This is how we like breaking the fast, and we have been fortunate to enjoy such liberties at home and in our travels.
What about you? What is your favourite breakfast?

oooh, another fabulous post for me - breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, would never miss it ! and when i travel, not only am i always on the lookout for sweets (as you know !), but i absolutely love discovering what the traditional breakfast is. the different types of breads and juices, savory vs. sweet,... perfect timing to read this email, just got up and ready for breakfast - a bowl of hot chocolate for dipping fresh bread with salted butter. hey, you know i live with a frenchman ! ;)
I haven't had breakfast yet and I'm salivating. I love a large buffet on vacation. Start with fruit, smoked salmon, some granola. Continue with eggs, bacon, potatoes, toasts or croissants. And then a danish pastry. No other meal until dinner. :)
Found you on Twitter.

Excellent photography, as always! You have me craving for breakfast, when I just had dinner. :)
Breakfast is actually the most special part of my day. It is daily morning date with hubby; the kids are all in school... no distractions. :)
Jen, I think that you and I need to travel together. Seriously - we would be the perfect companions.
I love to go out for breakfast too, but today we were stuck at home in a snowstorm. On the menu were scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and creme fraiche (sooooo good) and homemade cinnamon rolls (leftover from Christmas - I pulled them out of the freezer). Pair that with press pot coffee and if it didn't look like your pictures, it was definitely presentable.
As always, I love your writing, your pictures, you aesthetic...
Beautiful photos! Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day too! I love a warm, flaky croissant, with strawberry jam, cafe au lait, and scrambled eggs from Novotel. French eggs just taste so much better than eggs in the US. Not sure why..

Breakfast is a lovely meal to have with your family. I hardly share one with my husband during the week, but on the weekends and on vk we always eat together. It's funny I never actually thought about it until I read this!
Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day and I have many favourites...one being a 'Veggie Full English brekkie'. I make:
Veggie Sausages
Veggie Bacon
Fried Tomatoes
Fried Mushrooms
Eggs with a runny middle
Veggie baked beans
Wholewheat toasted rolls
And occasionally I add a little caribbean edge to it by frying some Plantains and or/Bammi (cassava) instead of bread...I have this maybe once a quarter...my mum used to make this for us when I was a kid every sunday!!
On a regular day though - I may have a medley of strawberries, bananas, blueberries covered in fat free greek yoghurt, organic honey, toasted almonds and a dash of flax seed...washed down with brasillian espresso from the old Moka.
I am so excite to find your blog, very beautiful, full of life and inspiration. I will come often. THanks for writing these two blog, I appreciate it.
mmm well i love pancakes and being canadian i also love my pancakes soaked in maple syrup but since ive moved to budapest and cannot afford to buy imported maple syrup i have embrace the walnut, nutella "palascinta" their version of a pancake for breakfast more than once a week!
breakfast is my favourite meal of the day.
i have the laborious task right now of developing a breakfast menu with a rather talented chef
quite awful as you can imagine
today i had to endure:
'poached eggs with smoked salmon, mascarpone, baby spinach and lemon juice drizzle - all on posh toast'
ghastly!
[i love me job!]
